The Monofilament Wig

The   Monofilament is making a comeback, well interesting to note some avid alternative hair wearers were completely unaware  the monofilament  even existed. The monofilament was eclipsed by the ever popular  lace front. Persons with heavy hair lines have discovered wearing lace fronts can be everything from uncomfortable  to stressful on their existing hairline. A great alternative is the Monofilament.

     The Monofilament  Wig

The monofilament  area is generally found in the very front of the wig, the  monofilament area spans the width of the  forehead  and  depth can vary 1-2″. The monofilament’s design is contained within the cap unit and does not extend out and on  the forehead like a lace front would.  Some wigs have  a monofilament part. Very much like a lace front it is composed of hair strands being individually sewn into material that has some transparency, just  not as transparent, as materials used for lace fronts. Monofilament   are similar to the front line lace wig in that the design rest on the hairline, however, it differs in that the monofilament has a strong cap line presence, because it is not as transparent.  I’m convinced this feature is what caused the lace front to excel over the monofilament;  therefore,  due to the aforementioned challenges lace fronts  have caused  the monofilament  is being revived and I’ll share some helpful hints to encourage a better wearing experience.

 The Key

A non existent  hair-line is an excellent canvas for lace fronts, a heavy hair-line is ideal for a monofilament. The key is wearing a monofilament that shares the same hue as your  visible roots, Your roots and the correct position of the monofilament wig gives way to the illusion.
